The long established and highly regarded Evening Course in Photography is moving on-line in response to the COVID 19 pandemic. Delivered by a volunteer staff of dedicated enthusiastic and knowledgeable photographers who at one time, “walked in your shoes” to learn their craft. The Dublin Camera Club has a well-earned reputation both nationally and internationally on the amateur photography exhibition and competition circles. This breadth and depth of experience allied to comprehensive technical skills at both camera and software levels, can now be delivered direct to your home with this “Introduction to Photography” Course.

Introduction to Photography Course

Commencing on Wednesday 16th September 2020 at 7:30pm, it will comprise of nine on-line presentations by highly experienced photographers from the club, supported by additional workshops and mentoring events. At the end of the course you will have learnt:

  • Your camera’s main features and settings
  • How to take well exposed images
  • The main elements of good composition
  • Basic editing of your images on a variety of editing suites
  • Tips and guidance on a number of photographic genres – travel, landscape, nature, documentary and portraits

Importantly, their team will provide mentoring support throughout the courses duration with a series of opt in small group practical field sessions  based on the popular camera makes, so you will never feel alone. The mentor will be your contact point on line to provide technical and general photography techniques as well as assist you with a number of practical exercises that you will undertake after each session.  Outdoor practical mentoring sessions will follow COVID-19 guidelines in operation at the time.

At the end of the course images taken by participants during the course will be shown in an on-line exhibition.

The course is attractively priced at €99 (originally €120). Furthermore, participants will be enrolled as Associate Members of Dublin Camera Club for the duration of the course.  This allows full access to the club’s On-Line meetings, presentations and workshops.  There is a special deal of full membership on offer for those taking up the course, a one-year full club membership at 50% of the full cost.  This is available on booking the course and up to 1 month after its conclusion. You are just not attending a course, but joining the club.
