Course Content

Community Education at An Cosán seeks to build skills and confidence to promote personal and professional development. Our courses are designed to support you at whichever stage of your learner journey you are at!

An Cosán’s Foundation Level programmes provide a supportive, fun, and collaborative virtual learning environment in which we encourage learners to participate actively in their own development. Though they are not officially accredited, learners will receive a Certificate of Achievement from An Cosán on completion.

Each module consists of:

  • Induction Day: Full Day Face to Face workshop (10am-4pm)
  • Followed by weekly live Online Sessions: 2 hours once a week for 5 weeks

The following Introductory / non-accredited / taster modules are delivered based on demand:

  • Introduction to Community Development
  • Introduction to Community Drugs Work
  • Introduction to Community Leadership
  • Introduction to Climate Change and Environment
  • Introduction to Gender Studies
  • Introduction to Citizenship and Social Action

Tailored Programmes: All the above programmes are available to run on request for Community Partners tailored to your needs, at a day/time of your choice.  Email Maria Flanagan, Community Partner Lead for more information.

Entry RequirementsApplicants must be 18 years+. An Cosán welcomes all learners to its non-accredited programmes, including those with different learning abilities. To benefit from the programme, we recommend that learners have intermediate English language skills. If in doubt, please talk to the programme tutor. There are no compulsory assessments on An Cosán non-accredited programmes. Attendance and participation is based on the student’s interest in the subject and their love of learning.
