Institute of Technology Tralee

Originally established in 1977 as the Regional Technical College, the campus became the Institute of Technology Tralee in 1992. Today IT Tralee is home to 3,500 full-time and part-time students, employs 350 staff and brings an annual contribution of €60m to the local economy. In 2001 the North Campus opened in Dromtacker, accompanying the South Campus in Clash, Co. Kerry.

The Institute of Technology Tralee offers third level education, research, training and development for commercial, social, economic, scientific, technological, industrial and cultural development of the State with focus on its region. School if Business, Computing and Humanities, Technology, Science, Engineering and Maths and School of Health and Social Sciences are all third level programmes available at IT Tralee’s three principal schools.

Students can undertake courses within three year Ordinary Degree; four year Honours Degree, Masters and PhD. They can also begin with courses in two year certificates and continue on from there. Applicants can also avail of craft, apprentice, ACCS and many part-time programmes.

At the Institute of Technology Tralee there are a broad spectrum of diverse programmes within areas such as Business and Management, Social Sciences, Computing and Technology, Music, Television and Radio, Creative Media, Hospitality and Hotel Management, Tourism and much more.

IT Tralee is also hosts a number of research centres within areas such as Centre for Entrepreneurship and Enterprise Development, Irish Academy of Hospitality and Tourism, Intelligent Mechatronics and RFID, Shannon Applied Biotechnology, and UNESCO Chair in Inclusive Physical Education, Sport, Fitness and Recreation.

Along with the excellent higher learning facilities provided at the Institute of Technology Tralee, the campus is surrounded the breathtaking vistas and landscapes of Kerry. The eclectic mix of culture inhabits the county, including music, arts and heritage. Sport is prevalent in Kerry and boasts world class facilities within GAA, soccer and other sports fields. Outside of their studies, students can spend a few years gaining new friends and great experiences amidst the spectacular surroundings of Tralee and Kerry.
