Trauma, Neuroscience and Adolescence Online Workshop

Exposure to trauma or series of chronic traumatic events activates the body’s biological stress response systems, which in turn can impact on psychological functioning. Trauma can have long term and extremely negative impact on the lived experience of adolescents. As research reports that trauma does indeed have a massive impact on the developing brain, this workshop will be invaluable for therapists working with adolescence who have experienced emotional or psychological trauma in their early lives. This workshop will support you in examining how trauma and neuroscience can inform clinical practice with this client cohort.

Course Content:

In this one day introductory workshop, participants will study:

  • Brain development from birth to adolescence.
  • The impact of trauma on development and the developing brain.
  • The adolescent brain, the myth of raging hormones, the importance of the social brain in adolescence.
  • Ideas to provide a neuro-sequential therapeutic experience for adolescents.
