On Wednesday, 30th March, Teagasc will hold a seminar from 9am – 3:30pm on “Microbiological Challenges for Artisan/Small Food Producers: How to Make Safer Food”.
The programme features food scientists from the Teagasc Food Research Programme and University of Limerick who will present the latest research on microbial food safety in dairy, vegetable and meat production as well as the development of molecular methods in identifying microbes across the food chain.
Guest speakers from Pennsylvania State University and the Food Safety Authority of Ireland will outline the current legal and regulatory guidelines, followed by a round table discussion with representatives from Bord Bia, Safefood and the three food sectors involved.

The College of Amenity Horticulture is located at the National Botanic Gardens, Glasnevin, Dublin, 5km north west of the city centre and is accessible by the 4, 9 and 83 buses.
The aim is to train students for employment in the amenity horticulture industry. The College of Amenity Horticulture are providing training for 300 students between. There is a balance of both school leavers and mature participants among the students.
While on courses students are trained in the theory and practice of horticulture and get an opportunity to work in a practical way alongside skilled horticulturalists as part of their training.
Graduates of courses contribute in many sectors of the horticulture industry, such as, landscape design and construction, garden centres, parks, estate gardens, grounds maintenance and greenkeeping.
All aspects of Horticulture are being studied on The College of Amenity Horticulture programmes from Level 5 to Level 7.
