A course in Operating Department Care Skills will help you go on to further study in healthcare support. It covers the likes of safety and health, infection control, client care and clinical activity and communication. It will help you to understand both the physical and psychological needs of those you’re working with as well as how to deliver effective, safe and efficient care.
However, you will also be taught how the importance of managing stock, keeping records and reporting incidents. This will be combined with other interpersonal skills and effective communication skills that will be covered in the course. Having this foundation of information will help you to progress with whatever career you end up in as they are skills that will stick with you as a person.
Courses in Paramedic Recruitment will cover the likes of verbal and numeric reasoning, research and interviewing techniques and judgement questionnaires based on different scenarios. You will also need to fill in experience self-assessment and questionnaires about the subject.
Most courses in this field will allow you to study at home at a time that suits you, which means that you can incorporate it into your work or pre-existing routines. Some have entry requirements such as having a Leaving Certificate or a Level 4 certificate. For work placements, Garda Vetting will be required.
