They will teach participants all about the fundamental principles of renewable energy technologies. They will bring them through the basic mathematical, scientific and engineering principles.

Students will start off with an introduction to energy, renewable energy and energy efficiency. After this, they will move to solar hot water systems, solar photovoltaic systems and heat pumps.

Biofuels such as wood energy, biodiesel and bioethanol will be covered. As well as this, wind energy in terms of large and small scale wind power systems are included in the course. Renewable Energy courses also cover water energy such as hydropower, ocean and tidal energy sources.

In some courses, students will apply their knowledge to a local or regional situation during their studies.

Part-time courses in Renewable Energy are delivered one evening a week for a duration of usually 26 weeks. The session lasts three hours. Students will need to attend on four Saturdays to conduct laboratory work, site installation visits and a trip to a wind turbine.
