Religious and pastoral education courses are ideal if you are someone who is deeply in touch with their spirituality. They are also suitable to the learner who would also like to help people find their way through life via their connection with god.

Why should I take up a religious study course?

There are many different reasons to pursue a study path in religion. It could be that you wish to get a deeper understanding of your faith, or that you want to utilise your pastoral skills and help others along their spiritual journey.

It could also be that you would like to become a religion or spiritual teacher or healer and would like to begin your study path on a broader scale.

Many of the courses available to students cover a wide variety of topics and have a number of different applications.

Courses will cover a wide range of topics from religious leadership, to biblical studies. The student will also learn about religious teachings and will learn the history of catholicism as well as learn about other religions that are in existence around the world.

Many courses also cover areas of science and psychology practice and many people who embark on religious and pastoral education do so in order to begin a career as a counsellor, or spiritual guidance professional.

What are my career options?

Many students who take up religious based courses do so to further their own personal spiritual journey and deepen their own connection to god. However if you are taking one of these courses in order to pursue a career there are many options available to you.

Some of these options include:

  • Pastor / Priesthood
  • Preacher
  • Theologian
  • Teacher
  • Chaplain
  • Writer / Editor
  • Counsellor
  • Missionary
  • Evangelist

Another area that utilises students of religion is not for profit and charity organisations.

Many students who wish to take on these courses will have a very strong sense of faith and see their religious study as a calling rather than a choice. There are many courses available across the country that are suitable for all levels of interest in religion and for all possible outcomes. From the casual learner to the person who wishes to dedicate their lives to god.
