Dog Training classes might be just the thing for you if you are you an animal lover. Would you like to turn your love for man’s best friend into a handy, fun and lucrative career? Then maybe dog training classes might be the ideal place for  you to start your journey.

What you will learn?

Students of a dog training course are likely to learn how to identify when the animal is scared, sad, over-excited or anxious. This is a very important skill set to have, especially if you intend on looking after other peoples pets.

Most of these courses will involve the study of the modern dog.  They will cover everything from how the dog evolved and became part of the human existence right through to how the canine brain works. By engaging with this field of study the student will learn the most up to date and proven methods of dog communication, training and how to live a relaxed life with their own dogs.

Learners will develop skills in pet communication, and learn how to utilise things like calming signals, learn the psychology behind why a dog bites and gain a deeper understanding of the overall behaviour of the animal.

Students will gain a greater understanding of dog training and dog behaviour modification methods and know how they came about as common practice. They will also learn how to successfully implement these practices using key body language, gestures and signals.

The student will also learn dog training methods and how to implement diagnostic practices used to identify basic behavioural problems and put in place steps for behaviour modification.

Who Would Benefit from a Dog Training Course?

Obviously, these courses are ideal for all dog lovers. These courses can be ideal for dog owners who just wish to gain a greater understanding of their pet, or for those that work with dogs in any capacity and want to understand and improve their relationships with them. These courses are also ideal for people who would like to start their own business in any capacity in dog and pet care, from dog walking and sitting to pet behavioural science. These courses can also be beneficial for people who already work in the dog industry, such as dog walkers, groomers, pet sitters etc who would like to add ‘professional dog trainer’ to their services.

What will the student learn?

Students of these courses may study some of the following topics:

  • Canine Psychology and Theory
  • Basic Training and Theory
  • Types of Canine Training
  • Canine Anxiety, Fear and Aggressiveness
  • Canine Behaviour Problems and Correction
  • Providing Advanced Dog Training

Further study could also be an option in the fields of dog and pet psychology and animal behavioural science.
