Diploma in Religious Studies

Religion shapes many peoples lives in significant ways, and Religious Studies can help us better understand this influence.

This course will enlighten students and invite them to explore their own religious beliefs in light of other faiths, other academic disciplines, and in light of lived experience. The course, therefore, provides a good training in critical thinking, applied across a wide range of issues and contexts.

Offering insight into and reflection on a number of the great religious questions, emphasis is on the Christian tradition with introductions to a number of the other great world religions as well.

In a time of pluralism, secularism, and religious extremism, it is increasingly important for people to understand the phenomenon of religion, the beliefs and practices of the major religious traditions, and to be able to discuss and consider these in an informed and balanced fashion.
