Course Content

This BA (Ord) Early Childhood Care and Education degree, awarded by University of Essex, is delivered through blended learning, enabling you to work full-time while studying. Complete this degree in two academic years if you hold a QQI level 6 Advanced Certificate in Early Learning & Care or equivalent.

The programme is delivered by online learning with one-to-one tutor support, accommodating your work-life balance.

Entry RequirementsEntry to this course is by direct application to Portobello Institute.
To be eligible, you must hold a QQI Level 6 major award in ECCE or an equivalent qualification. The Advanced Certificate in Early Learning & Care – QQI Level 6 Major Award is available at Portobello Institute.
Portobello Institute has secured Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) with the University of Essex for students holding QQI level 6 Early Years Care & Education or QQI level 6 Advanced Supervision in Childcare.
All applicants must be able to demonstrate proficiency in the English language eg. completing a major award at QQI level 6 completed through English.
Career PathGraduates are eligible for the Graduate Premium from DCDE (the Department of Children, Disability and Equality) for roles in early years settings.
