Our 6-week journey, 'AI for Everyone', is a comprehensive short course designed to simplify and demystify Artificial Intelligence (AI), its concepts and its practical applications. Through this course, participants will gain a fundamental understanding and knowledge of AI, hands-on experience with simple AI-related tools and projects, as well as the confidence to explore further developments and applications in the AI field.
If you want to learn how AI impacts daily life and work, and gain confidence to navigate the ever-evolving world of AI, this course is for you!
The curriculum includes interactive classroom discussions, applicable case studies, and self-paced learning assignments, all providing an engaging and enriching learning experience. Each week will provide practical tips & tricks, suggestions for further study, and simple projects to help solidify understanding.
No prior technical or coding experience is required.
Week 1 - Introduction to AI:
Understand what AI is through simple definitions.
Discuss common myths and misconceptions about AI.
Hands-on Activity:
Identify and discuss examples of AI in daily life
Introduction to ChatGPT
Week 2 - Understanding the Basics of Machine Learning
Learn about machine learning in simple terms.
Explore how machines learn: supervised vs. unsupervised learning
Hands-on Activity:
Deep-dive into some examples of simple predictive models
Jump back into ChatGPT
Week 3 - The Art of Prompting
What is prompting and why it matters
Prompt engineering basics: clarity, context, constraints
Hands-on Activity:
Practice crafting prompts for real life / work scenarios (e.g. summarising meetings, drafting emails, generating ideas)
Week 4 - AI in the Real World
Explore various real-world applications of AI in different industries like healthcare, finance, retail, manufacturing, etc.
Hands-on Activity: Brainstorm AI applications in your own work context (& personal life)
Week 5 - Ethics in AI
Discuss the ethical considerations surrounding the use of AI
AI’s impact on jobs and the economy
Ethical dilemmas: bias, transparency, privacy
Responsible AI principles
Hands-on Activity:
Debate ethical scenarios in small groups
Week 6 - Future of AI
Exploring Emerging trends: AI agents, generative AI, explainable AI
The rising trend of AI and potential impacts on society.
Hands-on Activity:
Discuss AI applications that could be part of future life, explore how AI might shape our field in 10 years.
