The annual Maritime Careers Event and Open Day will take place at the National Maritime College of Ireland (NMCI) on Thursday, 7th November 2019 from 10:00 to 15:00.
NMCI Open Day 2019
Representatives from international shipping companies and maritime organisations will be available to provide information about careers in the maritime industry. Many of these companies provide employment and sponsorship to students undertaking courses offered by the National Maritime College of Ireland. Throughout the day there will be:
- Tours of the state of the art training facilities at the college.
- An events’ hall to visit international maritime companies and organisations.
- Presentations for schools and students on course opportunities at the NMCI.

About the National Maritime College of Ireland
The National Maritime College of Ireland (NMCI) is the first third level college in the country to be built under the Government’s Public-Private Partnership scheme. A Public-Private Partnership (PPP) is a partnership between the public and private sector for the purpose of delivering a project or service traditionally provided by the public sector. In this case the public partners are the Cork Institute of Technology (CIT) and the Irish Naval Service (INS) and the private partner is Focus Education. This model allows the college management and teaching staff to concentrate on education while the private partner is responsible for services to the college and the maintenance of facilities.
