Griffith College Launches New Certificate in Digital Law and Regulatory Frameworks: AI, Cybersecurity, Privacy, Data Protection and Intellectual Property

New micro-credential addresses growing demand for expertise in AI, cybersecurity, privacy, data protection and intellectual property.

Griffith College is offering a new Certificate in Digital Law and Regulatory Frameworks: AI, Cybersecurity, Privacy, Data Protection and Intellectual Property, designed to equip learners with practical, industry-relevant knowledge for today’s rapidly evolving digital environment.

Delivered as a Level 8 micro-credential worth 15 ECTS, the programme runs over one semester on a part-time, blended learning basis from Griffith College’s Dublin Main Campus, with intake in September 2026

The certificate has been developed for professionals and graduates seeking to strengthen their understanding of the legal and regulatory issues shaping digital transformation. It is particularly relevant to those working in legal, business, compliance, governance, administration and technology-related roles.

The programme combines pre-recorded lectures with live interactive workshops, offering flexibility for working professionals while maintaining a strong practical focus. Learners will explore real-world legal and compliance challenges, build critical analytical skills and gain insight into both Irish and international regulatory frameworks.

The course consists of three specialist modules:

  • Cybersecurity and AI Law
  • International Privacy and Data Protection Law
  • Intellectual Property Law

On completion, learners will have developed practical understanding in areas including AI regulation, cybersecurity, GDPR, privacy law, data protection compliance, and intellectual property rights, while also enhancing their ability to identify and assess legal and governance risks in digital settings.

The programme is funded as a micro-credential by the Higher Education Authority under Human Capital Initiative Pillar 3, Innovation and Agility. It is also supported through the Micro-credential Learner Fee Subsidy 2026, with 80% fee subsidisation for eligible learners. For Irish/EU applicants living in Ireland, the total fee is €1,900, with the learner contribution reduced to €380.
