Dundalk Institute of Technology (DkIT) has signed an articulation agreement with City of Dublin FET College Dhúlaigh to create new progression opportunities for students pursuing careers in the creative arts.
The agreement, formally signed on 25 September 2026, will allow eligible students who have completed the drama programme at City of Dublin FET College Dhúlaigh and achieved the required academic results to progress directly into Year 2 of either the BA Musical Theatre or BA Drama, Theatre and Film at DkIT. Both programmes are delivered by the institute’s Department of Creative Arts, Media and Music.
The agreement strengthens links between further and higher education, helping students plan their educational journeys and providing clearer routes from further education and training into degree-level study.
It also supports the ambitions outlined in DkIT’s Strategic Plan 2024–2028, which emphasises widening access and participation. Through closer collaboration, the two institutions aim to expand opportunities for learners, recognise the contribution of further education and keep student progression at the centre of their work.
Speaking at the signing, Dr Diarmuid O’Callaghan, President of DkIT, said:
“It was wonderful to welcome colleagues from the City of Dublin FET College Dhúlaigh to DkIT. This agreement strengthens further to higher educational pathways for students and creates exciting new opportunities for learners across the Dublin region to access degree programmes in the creative arts.”
Patricia O’Brien Brennan, Principal of City of Dublin FET College Dhúlaigh, added:
“City of Dublin FET College Dhulaigh is delighted to formalise this articulation agreement with Dundalk Institute of Technology. By building stronger links between Further and Higher Education, we are providing transparent, accessible progression routes for creative talent and keeping student success firmly at the centre of our mission.”
The agreement offers a practical progression route for students interested in musical theatre, drama, theatre and film, enabling eligible learners to build on their further education studies and continue towards a degree.
