Tour Guide Training

This QQI Special Purpose programme is a Level 6 Award and takes place over twenty weeks. Tour guiding means you can combine your interests, and perhaps a fluency you may have for languages, with a career working in the developing tourist industry. With the influx of visitors to our little island increasing year-on-year, there’s currently there’s a demand for qualified tour guides who hold the Fáilte Ireland Tour Guiding Badge.

If you’re thinking of booking on, it’s valuable that you already possess the following:

  • Good leadership skills
  • Confidence in dealing with large groups of people
  • Passionate about their city and its surrounds
  • Ability to problem solve on the go

Course Content

This course combines lectures with on-the-job work experience and role playing. You will learn about the business of tour guiding  as well as gain hands’ on experience yielding the microphone. This programme is designed for people who have a genuine interest in their locality and a very positive appreciation of Dublin’s history, culture, tradition and folklore and who are enthusiastic about sharing this with others. Liberties College

Requirements

As with everything worth achieving in life, this is something you have to work for, so budget your study time accordingly.  The assessment of your performance will be on written assignments, skills demonstrations, completion of a portfolio of work and an end of course examination.
