Physiotherapy is a healthcare profession that assesses, diagnoses, treats, and works to prevent disease and disability through physical means. Physiotherapists use a variety of techniques, including exercise prescription, manual therapy, and education to help patients recover from injury, illness, or surgery, and to improve their overall mobility and function. Physiotherapy is often used to treat musculoskeletal conditions such as back pain, arthritis, and sports injuries, as well as conditions that affect the lungs, heart, and nervous system.

Physiotherapy studies

Students who undertake this one-year course in Physiotherapy studies will gain an understanding of the principles and practices of rehabilitation and an insight into how to assess and treat clients whose movement is restricted by illness, injury, disability or age. Students will gain the skills needed by the HSE to work in the healthcare sector, which will help them to understand therapy programmes and support clients in restoring or improving their mobility.
