For established professionals in counselling and psychotherapy, the opportunity to elevate your qualifications and enhance your practice is now available from IICP – Institute of Integrative Counselling & Psychotherapy. Registrations are open for the Level 9 Master of Science in Pluralistic Counselling & Psychotherapy, with its next intake commencing in September 2025.

Developed in collaboration with Professor John McLeod, this advanced programme is designed to equip practitioners with an up-to-date, cutting-edge training to meet the diverse needs of contemporary society. A pluralistic perspective embraces multiple causes and responses to psychological distress, offering an integrative approach to therapeutic practice.

This two-year, part-time Master’s programme (90 ECTS credits) is ideal for practising therapists looking to extend their existing qualifications or progress from other counselling and psychotherapy training programmes to a Master’s Level. It aims to develop leadership and collaborative qualities, fostering graduates who are skilled research-practitioners.

  • Award Title: MSc in Pluralistic Counselling and Psychotherapy
  • Validation: QQI Validated and IACP Accredited*
  • Duration: 2 years (part-time)
  • Mode of Delivery: Blended Learning – combines online real-time classes with face-to-face sessions (typically half and half).
  • Schedule: Facilitated through convenient monthly three-day blocks (usually Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, 9:30 AM – 5:00 PM each day). Occasional Friday evening sessions (6 PM – 9 PM) may also occur.
  • Start Date: September 2025

Who Should Apply? This Master’s is suited for qualified professionals seeking to deepen their expertise, incorporate a cutting-edge pluralistic approach, and gain a highly respected Level 9 qualification.

Entry Requirements include:

  • An honours degree (NFQ Level 8) in counselling and psychotherapy, or equivalent.
  • Evidence of 50 hours of personal therapy.
  • Evidence of 120 hours of supervised clinical practice.
  • (For non-native English speakers) IELTS Level 6.5 or equivalent.
  • All applicants will be invited to an interview with faculty.

  • Course Fees: €4,350 per annum
  • Application Fee: €100 (non-refundable)
  • Payment plans via Direct Debit are available (€100 administrative fee applies).
