The basic premise behind “microneedling” is to stimulate the production of new collagen by needling the skin. Taking advantage of the skin’s ability to heal itself, microneedling causes micro-injuries to the epidermis, which signals the body to produce collagen to remodel the damaged area which in effect rejuvenates the skin making the skin look younger and fresher.

As each fine needle on the device punctures the skin, it creates a channel or micro-wound. The controlled injury triggers the body to fill these micro-wounds by the production of collagen and elastin in the papillary dermis. In addition, new capillaries are formed.
