BTEI means Back to Education Initiative. BTEI gives unemployed adults the opportunity of returning to part time education, while retaining their benefits.

This is a one year part time BTEI course. The course has been designed to suit the needs of those wishing to improve their English language skills in order to gain employment or progress into further education and third level here in Ireland. It aims for students to become independent users of the language.

By the end of the course students will have improved their proficiency in English by identifying and rectifying frequent errors in both spoken and written English and gained more confidence in a range of listening contexts.

Entry RequirementsAll BTEI applicants for this course must be at an intermediate level A2 to B2 CEFR*. The learner’s level of English will be determined by written test. All BTEI applicants must be engaging or a dependent engaging with the Department of Social Protection. Those either in receipt of a Social Protection Payment, Signing for Credits, on a scheme such CE or TUS, OR have refugee status may apply.
