Course Description
Embroidery - Embroidering The Sycamore Gap Tree
Embroidering The Sycamore Gap Tree
Course Description:
This course is available for experienced students and those who completed the “Fundamentals of Embroidery” course in the last semester. The number of places is very restricted and priority will be given to these students who attended the Fundamentals course with an attendance record of 80%.
The iconic Sycamore Gap Tree, which was standing next to Hadrian’s Wall in Northumberland, England, was felled on the morning of 28 September 2023. The outpouring of anger and sadness was immense. Many people shared their photographs of the Tree on social media in a wonderful variety of photographic moods.
You will be given a basic design of the tree and its surroundings and then you will choose your own colour scheme and carry out your own interpretation of the image, which reflects your personality. This is course is an opportunity to learn how to transfer your feelings about an object into an evocative embroidered piece. The students will need to provide their own materials and tools for the course. The teacher will provide the inspirational photographs of the Tree and support via email and WhatsApp through the entire course.
