Are you interested in Creative Arts for Early Childhood? Forus Training’s Level 6 course is starting on May 31st 2022.
Sign up today to gain this valuable QQI accredited qualification. This 7 week course will provide you with the knowledge and skills to enable you to to plan creative activities that promote a child’s learning, development and well-being, with specific regard to age and stage of development. Topics will also include the importance of consulting with children and enabling children to participate in planning for creative arts experiences. You will also study the use of open ended and natural materials in both the indoor and outdoor environment, findings on creativity in early childhood and recent changes in child care legislation. The course will be delivered through a blend of virtual sessions and self directed learning allowing you to learn at your own pace without compromising on vital trainer support.

Throughout this programme, you will discover how to;
  • Examine a variety of creative media opportunities with young children,
  • Summarise the benefits of exploration and participation in creative arts for the child,
  • Explore the role of the adult in creating an environment in which children feel secure and confident enough to take risks and explore new situations,
  • Plan opportunities for consultation with children to plan and engage in creative arts experiences,
  • Test open ended materials and natural items for creative arts in both the indoor and outdoor environments appropriate to different stages of children's development,
  • Explore challenges for adults in respecting choices and decisions of children,
  • Employ developmentally appropriate creative arts activities which promote the holistic development of the child,
  • Reflect on own role and responsibilities when engaging in creative arts activities with children mindful of health and safety.

 


Assessment

This course is assessed in the following ways, with the following weighting;

  • Project 40%
  • Collection of Work 60%

Project

A project is a individual to a brief with guidelines, that will be given to you on the first session of your course. They are carried out over a period of time. Projects involve: research – requiring individual investigation of a topic related to your course.

Collection of Work

A collection of work is a collection and/or selection of pieces of work produced by you over the duration of the course that demonstrates your mastery of the skills. You will use guidelines provided by your tutor on the first session of your course. You will be required to compile a collection of your own work. The collection of work will demonstrate evidence of a range of the specific learning outcomes and or skills associated with this course.

 


Tutor Support

At Forus Training, we have many different supports available for your learning.

Learner Pack

  • When you enrol on a course, you will receive a printed learner pack from your trainer on the first session of the event,
  • This learner pack contains clear assessment instructions and comprehensive material to support you as you complete the course,
  • The pack will also include induction information as well as forms that you will complete during and at the end of your course.

Trainer Support

  • The trainer provides support to learners, including issuing feedback on draft work you will submit. Expect to wait up to 72 hours for a response by email from your trainer. Many of our trainers have full time jobs as well as training with us this means they will have up-to-date sector specific information, but also means that you need to allow a little time for them to get back to you. Our trainers are current with practice in the sector in which they work,
  • Trainers can, by appointment, make time available to you before or after class to answer your queries that cannot be covered in the session. They can also make an appointment with you to discuss your work on a telephone call.

Career PathThis course leads to a Level 5 award on the National Framework of Qualifications. Students who successfully complete this programme may use their credits towards completing a higher level of study in the area of Childcare. Students who successfully complete this Major Award can also use the Certificate as the basis for entry into selected courses in Third Level Colleges and Universities.
