Certificate in Human Service Compliance Management - Special Purpose Award - June 2026

This Level 6 Special Purpose Award (20 ECTS credits), which satisfies the HIQA management qualification requirements for PICs when completed in conjunction with the Certificate in Human Service Manager Skills, will provide students with a comprehensive understanding of how to manage effectively in today’s regulated Human Service Sector while supporting staff in a manner that meets requirements set out in employment law.
It consists of two modules validated at Level 6 on the NFQ:
- Managing for HIQA Regulation and Inspection (MHRI) – 10 ECTS credits
- Essential Employment Law (EEL) – 10 ECTS credits
Each module is assessed by way of Continuous Assessment and contributes 50% to overall assessment results.
Course Objectives:
The programme aims to provide participants with knowledge on the origins and rationale for regulations; how to prepare for and engage positively with inspections as well as an understanding and development of the necessary competencies required to abide by employment law when it comes to managing staff.
Assessment
- The course is assessed through a combination of completing two assignments which also consist of associated online activities.
- Each module is assessed by way of Continuous Assessment and contributes 50% to overall assessment results.
- It is an applied course so students must be working at least 10 hours per week in an appropriate work environment.
- A significant proportion of assessment marks are allocated to the student’s application of what they learn in a real-world setting.

Students gain an award of 20 credits at Level 6 - Certificate in Human Service Compliance Management - which may be used, or accumulated with other programmes, to allow exemption/advanced entry onto cognate programmes at the same level. Note: This course is complemented by an additional OTC micro-credential management programme, namely the Certificate in Human Service Manager Skills and a third, below, currently in development for 2026. These three accessible and flexible management micro-credential courses combined will equate to a Level 6 Special Purpose Award of 60 credits, the equivalent of the former Certificate in Applied Management (CAM) course in relation to credits and NFQ level.
