sustainability issues, economic restraint and building legislation dictate that increasing emphasis
be placed on the effective utilisation of proposed and existing buildings. In particular, property
owners, developers and purchasers are encouraged to assess more closely the life cycle
performance of proposed and existing buildings and the possible reuse of existing buildings as
an alternative to demolition and rebuilding.
