Are you interested in learning about Care Support in Healthcare? Forus Training’s Level 5 Care Support course is starting on May 13th 2026 for €295 - payment options available!
 
This 7 week course explains the role and responsibilities of a Health Care Assistant (HCA), who the HCA reports to, the Multidisciplinary team (MDT) and all relevant up-to-date employment legislation and entitlements. The course will also introduce reflective practice as a means of thinking about and analysing working methods with the aim of continuous improvement for the sake of both the HCA and the client.
 

Throughout this course, you will...
  • Discuss the roles, responsibilities and entitlements of a care worker,
  • Examine the role of a care worker within the multidisciplinary healthcare team,
  • Demonstrate the ability to plan and provide enhanced quality care,
  • Apply knowledge gained to plan and meet the needs of the individual client,
  • Explore the need for personal planning and growth,
  • Plan strategies to improve own personal development,
  • Reflect on personal effectiveness as a care worker to include own strengths and weaknesses,
  • Reflect on relationships with clients, relatives and multidisciplinary team members and interpersonal issues that arise in care work.

Assessment

The course is assessed in the following ways:

  • Assignment 30%
  • Learner Record 70%

They also offer additional education and learning activities, assessment support, opportunities to submit drafts, and meetings before or after class to answer queries that cannot be covered in the session (by appointment).

Career PathThis course leads to an award on the National Framework of Qualifications. Students who successfully complete this programme may use their credits towards completing a higher level of study.

Students who successfully complete this Major Award can also use the Certificate as the basis for entry into selected courses in Third Level Colleges and Universities.
