12 Week Online Part-Time QQI Level 5 Special Needs Assistant (SNA) – Evening Classes via Zoom

Our next 12-week, part-time SNA (Special Needs Assisting) QQI Level 5 course starts on Tuesday, 22 September 2026.

This online SNA course is delivered through live, tutor-led evening classes via Zoom, every Tuesday from 6.30pm–9.30pm, allowing you to complete the course from the comfort of your own home.

The course is suitable for learners throughout Ireland and is ideal for those who are working or have other commitments and are looking for a part time or evening SNA course.

Course Fee: €360

A €60 deposit secures your place. Where Government funding has been approved, such as the Department of Social Protection Training Support Grant (eg. from Intreo) or CE Scheme funding, the deposit is not required.

What the Course Includes

• 12 weeks of live, tutor-led evening classes via Zoom
• An experienced tutor with practical experience in the disability sector
• Access to Pinnacle Training's Moodle eLearning platform
• Weekly course notes, class slides, discussion forums and additional resources
• Ongoing support from the Pinnacle Training team
• Interaction and communication with fellow learners
• 20 hours of work experience, organised by the learner
• Two end-of-course assignments
• No final examinations

What You Will Learn

• The role, responsibilities, qualities and skills of an effective Special Needs Assistant.
• Relevant legislation and the rights of children with disabilities, including personal autonomy, participation and decision-making.
• How to communicate and relate appropriately and effectively with children who have additional needs.
• Appropriate care routines, including feeding, toileting and general hygiene.
• Working effectively with parents, primary carers, teachers and members of the multidisciplinary team.
• Supporting children with disabilities under the direction of the classroom teacher.
• Promoting equality of opportunity and inclusion while supporting children in a safe and professional manner.
• Reflecting on personal practice and ensuring each child's individuality, needs and wellbeing are respected
