The Dublin Festival of History 2021 is a free festival taking place from Mon 20 September – Sun 10 October, with a programme of 70+ events, both online and in-person.

Now in its ninth year, the festival has built a reputation for shining a fresh perspective on history and its importance in our everyday lives, attracting best-selling Irish and international historians to Dublin for a high-profile programme of history talks and debate each Autumn.

Dublin City Libraries will host a range of events including Dublin 8: Witness to the Revolution with Liz Gillis and Cathy Scuffil, the 22nd Medieval Dublin Symposium with the Friends of Medieval Dublin on 24th & 25th September, and tours of the fabulous Edward Worth Library at Dr Steeven’s Hospital and Dublinia – all with a D8 flavour.

The programme also includes events marking the centenaries of the War of Independence, the Truce and the onset of the Civil War.

All events are free with booking and limited numbers required for some events.
