How to get into Higher Education |
| If your qualifications don’t meet the standard entry requirements, you can do a FETAC course. You need few or no previous qualifications to do a FETAC course and it allows you to develop skills, knowledge and confidence. You can gain credits along the way and these can sometimes be used toward Diploma courses. As a mature student some of the normal entry requirements, like points are bypassed as life experience and interest are deemed to be price enough! |
Understanding your strengths |
| Learning is not just something that happens in a classroom. If you have been coping with modern life, you will have been learning new things every day. The key skills you need to be a successful learner are exactly those you use in everyday life: |
- organising your time
- asking questions
- listening to people
- recognising your strengths
- recognising difficulties
- working out how to solve problems
Learning is flexible and can fit around your needs. It doesn’t have to be formal and assessment could be by written examination, by building up a portfolio of work as you go along, or by a practical demonstration of skill. You can find the type of learning and course provider that suits your strengths and needs. |
